— “| will take my seat and ANOWE FOR IRISH UNITY fight for our Rights” Bernadette McAliskey has declared, that if she wins a seat in this election: The people of this area can be assured | will take my seat in Leinster House and fight for our rights. No one will buy my vote to cut the educational, social or democratic rights of the people of this or any other area. | will hold regular constituency clinics and be available to the people of Dublin North Central. Together with a team of hard workers, we will help to solve the problems of working people and fight back against injustice in every form.

THERE IS an alternative way to prosperity and progress other than high prices, low wages and no work. There is an alternative way to peace in Ireland other than the Offences Against the State Act, Irish troops on the British border, more jails and more police. The solution to all our problems does not lie in some magic formula hidden in the bosom of @NATO and the EEC.

THAT IS WHY | AM A CANDIDATE IN THIS ELECTION.

I believe that the single greatest distortion which stunts every aspect of our national development is Partition. !t will gnaw at the heart of political life until it is resolved and the drastic and undemocratic mistake of Partition is reversed.

BI ; : | believe that the problems of poverty, low wages, work shortages and bad social conditions ee are not simply the product of mismanagement, mistake or weak government; but because somebody, somewhere, actually profits more by the rest of us having less.

Fundamentally, I believe that the only time in the history of this or any other country that the ordinary people, or any section of them, be they farmers, tenants, workers, women, gays, single parents or whatever, ever won anything worth having was when they stopped asking and started demanding; when they united, organised and refused to take no for an answer.

If elected, | do not promise heaven around the corner. | do not believe in telling lies. | cannot make any promises on the price of shoes, but | can promise this: to fight for the people of this constituency, and to fight with you to hang on to what is left of our liberty and living standards; to win back all we have already lost, by working together to build a united National campaign against the attacks on living standards, against repression, against NATO and the EEC. And for a United, Independent Ireland, for Control of the Nation’s Wealth by those who produce it, for Democratic and Civil Rights.
